Meetings are, without a doubt, the fastest way to waste time in the workplace. Meetings aren’t inherently wrong, but between late arrivals, off-topic tangents, and lack of structure, it’s common to have hour-long sessions where hardly anything gets done. Worse still are the meetings that could have easily been a phone call or email instead.
John Maxwell’s Law of the Inner Circle states that “a leader’s potential is determined by those closest to him.” This is a strong statement considering how much emphasis our current culture places on being “self-made” and achieving success all on our own, but it’s true: no one really achieves anything wholly by themselves.
As your business grows, you’ll need to hire more employees, right? Maybe not. Before you advertise for a new position, you might want to consider business outsourcing.
When you think of the qualities of a good leader, what comes to mind? Someone charming and charismatic, one who delivers passionate speeches at company meetings and can always command an audience? While we might associate these qualities with an extrovert, that doesn’t mean that this is the only way to lead.
Every business is governed by a set of leadership values, consciously or not. They define your company culture, determine what makes a good employee, and ultimately provide a set of guidelines for achieving success in your niche.
I don’t know a single person who could say they’ve never felt stress at work. Even the best of us have to deal with demanding customers, impending deadlines, or other setbacks that try our patience on a daily basis.
